The PS5 was like goldust upon its release in November 2020. It hit one million sales in record time and beyond that, finding one at retail value was near impossible along with the Xbox One X which released around the same time.

Supply troubles hit and many loyal customers were left (im)patiently waiting to get their hands on Sony’s latest release. However, these have continued to decrease, and the availability of the console has increased recently.

The PS5 is one of the biggest releases in games console history and also the strongest of Sony’s. It is able to accommodate a wide range or gamers who have a range of interests from card games such as online poker uk to unique simulators.

There are a number of games that are scheduled for release in the next year or so and there is plenty to be excited about for gamers. Let’s take a look at some of the biggest.

Grand Theft Auto 6

Despite not even being in development until relatively recently, this release has been highly anticipated since 2014. It was 2013 that GTA V was released and whilst it has remained incredibly popular in the near decade since it came out, fans have been eager to see its follow up.

There were leaks recently that Rockstar confirmed were real, meaning they are well underway in the development stages. Whilst little is still known about the release, it does seem GTA will be headed back to Vice City.

It seems that a late 2024/early 2025 release is likely and gamers everywhere will wait with baited breath for a teaser trailer in the hopefully not too distant future.

Whenever this game is released, it is pretty nailed on to be the biggest release of the year. Whilst some may question whether it can live up to the epic that was GTA V, Rockstar rarely fail to deliver on Grand Theft Auto.

Star Wars: Jedi Survivor

The next in a swath of recent releases for EA’s Star Wars games is Jedi Survivor. We do have a release date for this one, currently scheduled for March 17 2023. Respawn entertainment confirmed the date at The Game Awards 2022

Cal Kestis will again be the main protagonist following his introduction in Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order that was released in 2019. A number of other characters and voice actors are also expected to reprise their roles.

The story will pick up five years after the events of Jedi: Fallen Order, which concluded with Cal Kestis sacrificing the chance to rebuild the Jedi Order to keep Force-sensitive children safe from the Empire.

Jedi Survivor is expected to have a darker tone than Fallen Order and fans are very much looking forward to it after the success of the latter.

Hogwarts Legacy

Fans of Harry Potter were buzzing with excitement upon the announcement of this game. Tt was nominated for “Most Anticipated Game” at The Game Awards 2022 and for “Most Wanted Game” at the Golden Joystick Awards 2022.

It will be the first Harry Potter console game released since 2011, when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 was released in conjunction with the movie.

A massive, open world action role-playing game, the story takes place in the 1890s and follows a student starting at Hogwarts in the fifth year. The player character, who holds the key to an “ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart”, can manipulate a mysterious ancient magic.

The game is set for release in April 2023 after being pushed back from its earlier February date.

Dead Space Remake

This game may already have been released upon publishing with the scheduled date of January 27 2023.

The 2008 original is considered to be one of the best horror video games of all time meaning there is a lot of excitement around its re-release. It’s atmospheric and tense gameplay have haunted gamers for years since.

You will again be able to play as Isaac Clarke as you navigate the horrors of the USG Ishimura. The terrifying Necromorphs have overtaken the hull and you must try and survive as you repair the ship and survive its crew.

Resident Evil 4 Remake

From one horror classic reboot to another, Resident Evil 4 has long been a favourite of gamers.

Confirmed in June 2022 and slated to launch on March 24 2023, Resident Evil 4 Remake was given a new trailer at the Resident Evil Showcase in October. Leon is back and churning through the nightmarish village full of zombies.

Whilst the storyline sounds identical to the original release, it is highly likely that Capcom will throw some twists and turns in amongst it to keep the game fresh and surprise both old and new fans.
